August 19, 2019 Bill Goodgion

In the wake of Bill’s death, many have reached out to ask how they might be able to honor his life and legacy. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way than a gift to Recovery Beyond. Bill served as the secretary on the board and was a founding board member of this transformative organization. We know that his memory and passions will live on through this remarkable organization.

Bill Haines Jr., Recovery Beyond’s founding board member, and corporate secretary passed away on July 24th, 2019 in Bellevue, Washington. A Seattle native, Bill graduated from Seattle Preparatory School, and Seattle University with a degree in Business Administration in 1976. He enjoyed several sports, was a lifelong model railroader. He joined scouting as a Cub Scout, diligently rising to the rank of Eagle Scout. He was elected into the Order of the Arrow.

Bill met his wife of 42 years, Gina, while singing together at Seattle Prep. They have three children Shannon (Barney), Ryan (Holly), and Chris; and two grandsons, Grayson and Bode.

He remained active in scouting while his two sons both earned their Eagle Scout ranks. Bill’s interests included photography, a love for red wine, and never missed a Seahawks game.

Real Estate and finance were the industries where Bill employed the business skills he learned. He owned Rainier Pacific Mortgage for nearly 20 years and most recently managed for American Pacific Mortgage in Bellevue. He was a great mentor, boss, and friend, and was known as a jokester, always finding time for a laugh or sharing a story. His customers found him a good listener and truly interested in helping them find either the right home or the best mortgage; a place of peace where they could raise their family. He always put his customers first and made sure people were treated fairly and honestly. He had a heart for those who needed help and were willing to work on improving their situation.

Faith was the foundation of his life and his relationships; God came first, and everything else fell into place because of that priority. Bill was a wonderful person, a loving husband, a great father and always tried to do his best. He leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bill’s campaign supporting Recovery Beyond.
